Antol Khinevich was born in Barysau in 1993. He graduated from the International Sakharov Environmental Institute of Belarusian State University. From 2014 to 2018, he worked as an IT specialist in the Information Technologies Center of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
Anatol Khinevich participated in the creation of the official service of the Minsk City Executive Committee. Many times was Anatol Khinevich noted as the best specialist in his field. In Barysau, he is known as a bard and performer of his own songs.
On September 20th 2020, he was detained at a Sunday’s peaceful protest action in Minsk for resisting national guard servicemen. The peaceful protests were held against the results of the presidential election and violence of the police in Belarus in the summer and autumn of 2020. Anatol was sentenced to 15 days and was punished with a large fine. After serving his time, Anatol returned to Barysau.
According to his parents, after being released from prison, Anatol had traces of beatings on his face, his leg was damaged and he could not walk properly for a long time and limped.
However, on October 28th, he was detained again — already in the criminal case. Security forces broke the door of his parents’ flat, searched the apartment, and detained him.
On December 24th 2020, Anatol Khinevich was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for resisting national guard servicemen during the peaceful protest in Minsk in September 2020 — as though he “landed blows lying” to the OMON soldiers. Anatol served time in a penal colony, wrote poetry in prison.
Anatol Khinevich has fully served his prison sentence and was released on February 15, 2023.
